GOA provided architectural design and construction management services for this community art association, a beloved institution in northwest Connecticut that is a hub for art-making and viewing, and community events. Our brief was to create a new public face for the Association, fronting on the town plaza and declaring WAA’s contemporary identity.
Built by JIG.
Our design team worked closely with Association and community members, crafting an affordable, light-filled, prefabricated addition to the existing 19th brick building. Thanks to the central nature of the Washington Art Association within the Town, our work was closely reviewed in numerous public hearings. Our team, together with our client, built public trust over the course of outreach sessions, resulting in a new public presence for a familiar institution within the Town.
