House
Greenwich, CT
The gut renovation that followed included an entirely new perimeter with high-performance windows, walls and roof; new room layouts within the house to enhance flow and practical usage; new interior surfaces and products with finishes and cabinetry aligned with the eclectic modernism that was a project goal for GOA and our clients.
Our design capitalized on the remarkable setting by creating a series of indoor and outdoor spaces woven into nature. Floating decks edging an enfilade of interior and exterior rooms give an unexpected experience when one enters, as the house is quiet and reserved upon approach. The family’s goal was a private house whose special relationship to the brook and to the forest is hidden from the road and nearby houses, and allows the family and their visitors to live close to nature from every space in the house.
